Rocky Ivey

Perry S. “Rocky” Ivey experienced much success in the financial arena as a banker.  However, his passion outside of his work was athletics.  He was an avid supporter of all youth athletics and the Thomasville High Bulldogs.  If the coaches had a need all they had to do was make that known to Rocky and he would do whatever it took to make sure that need was satisfied.  He served as a Touchdown Club officer, board member, coach, mentor and an overall supporter for the youth of our community and his beloved Bulldogs.

He loved and understood the game of football having been an outstanding high school player and garnering a scholarship to play college ball as a running back.  He knew firsthand the sacrifice and effort required to be successful and worked hard to support those whose desire for success matched his own.  Saturday morning during football season you would find him at the coaches’ office delivering breakfast and a word of encouragement.  He loved being around coaches and athletes.

One of his main goals was to help raise funds to assist any athlete, especially football players, to attend college if they had the desire and determination to do so.  He was instrumental in helping the Touchdown Club reward coaches and athletes for their success on and off the field.  Whether it was fundraising, cooking to feed those associated with the various programs, selling tickets, or anything else he was there.  Rocky was special to athletes and our community through his involvement in civic activities, church, or with his many friends.  He could be viewed as a role model for those who support athletes and a true role model for the youth of our community.
